A Message from Martha (Marti) Folwell, President
North Pinellas County League of Women Voters
Welcome to www.lwvnorthpinellas.org
Website of the League of Women Voters
of North Pinellas County website. |
An example of how things have changed for the League over the years is that, when I first joined the League in Rochester, New York, general meetings were held at a church where child care was provided for members who had young children. Today, one of our challenges is to find ways to enable young women and men to get the intellectual stimulation and opportunity for service that is available through the League of Women Voters.
I once heard a World War II concentration camp survivor speak. His final words were, "Don't be a bystander." With that in mind, I asked myself, "Is the League of Women Voters still relevant?" My answer was a resounding "Yes!" as I reflected on the large numbers of newly registered voters this presidential election year and the need for a trustworthy source of information about serious issues facing our communities, state, nation and world.
There are many special interest groups, but few take as broad a view and look out for the general welfare as well as the League of Women Voters.
I invite you to join us by becoming a member. You will find information on membership below. Ii
